The Arts are a strong feature of our school, with excellent uptake for GCSE and outstanding results.  Our annual exhibitions, concerts and school productions are well attended.

Davison is renowned for its fabulous music concerts and drama productions. This summer we saw our students stage a spectacular production of The Addams Family, involving girls from across all year groups. The music department have a high uptake at GCSE but also of girls taking their grade exams in a wealth of different instruments. The school’s inclusive choir is something very special and is pitch perfect when performing in our church services and school events.

Our inter-form Dance competitions are popular with the whole school and if girls do not wish to dance on the stage, they participate in costume making, choreography and stage lighting. The event takes place at Worthing Pavilion, giving students an opportunity to perform on a professional stage.

The school has three Dance companies, and the Year 9 company performed at the University of Brighton to share their dance work in a contemporary platform. Their piece was called ‘Keeping your head up’ and it looked at the ways we could support each other in times of challenge. The KS4 Dance company performed ‘Au Revoir Alston’ at the University of Brighton and was a celebration of the work of choreographer Richard Alston. Again, this year the girls achieved exceptional results in GCSE Dance.

The Creative Arts department delivers GCSE courses in Art, Photography and Creative Textiles. Artwork is exhibited everywhere around the school. Pupils explore and experiment with many different media, including Clay and digital Art. The Art department often work in collaboration with other departments and were instrumental in this Year’s STEAM project.
