Science

Davison Science is a successful Department in which students enjoy learning and teachers enjoy teaching. Students’ motivation, behaviour and achievement are excellent with extensive, extra academic and pastoral support for those who need it. The Department is fully-staffed with specialist Science teachers.

We are proud of our results, which have been good and improving over the last six years. Last year’s Year 11 Double Scientists achieved 86% A*-C in GCSE Core Science, 78% in Additional Science and 100% Pass or better in BTEC Applied Science. Triple Scientists achieved 93% A*-C (58% A/A*) in GCSE Physics, 100% (56% A/A*) in Chemistry and 96% (59% A/A*) in Biology.

With effect from September 2016, Key Stage 3 students will follow the AQA Mastery Key Stage 3 Syllabus. Key Stage 4 students will take either AQA GCSE Combined Science (Trilogy) or AQA GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics. All specifications can be found on the AQA Science website or are available from the school.

Students in all year-groups have the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of extra-curricular and enrichment activities and have won or done well in several competitive events involving other schools.

The Department has nine modern laboratories and a share of a new computer suite. All laboratories are well-resourced and we have a dedicated team of three specialist Science Technicians.
