Our staff make progress judgments on children in every lesson they teach. Our school system allows staff to record the progress from important pieces of assessment so that teachers, children and parents know exactly where students are in their learning journey and what it is they need to do to improve.

The important assessments are referred to as Key Performance Indicators (or KPIs) and our trackers and reports provide information on how children are progressing against them.

The assessment judgments, therefore, are simple; either the student has attained the learning or they have not. If they have attained the key learning then they will be directed towards extension resources to deepen their understanding. If they have not attained the learning, they will be guided to core resources where they can try again.

The main elements of our system are:

  • children know exactly what is expected of them and what they need to do to improve
  • when children know that parents will be able to see evidence of their work. This increases their motivation to learn
  • access to resources at home allows children to take ownership of their learning
  • With complete transparency of where the child is at, nobody is left behind
