BTEC & OCR Nationals at Davison

BTEC and OCR Nationals at Davison

Intent

Our vocational offer at Davison is available to all students as they choose their options in year 9.

The BTEC and OCR National way of assessment is different from GCSE consisting of 75% assingnment assessment and 25% formal exam. The qualifications on offer have GCSE equivalency and are recognised by colleges. All of the courses we offer have level 3 (A level standard) qualifications. For a guide to qualification levels see:

https://www.gov.uk/what-different-qualification-levels-mean/list-of-qualification-levels

The vocational qualifications offer different subject areas than our GCSEs and also introduce our students to vocational qualifications so they can be better informed for their post 16 choices.

The subjects we offer reflect the employment needs of our locality and offer many opportunities for our young women to move onto the world of work.

Implementation

We offer the following subject areas:

  • BTEC Level 1&2: Travel and Tourism, Sport, Health and Social Care

  • OCR National Level 1&2: Child Development and ICT (iMedia)

For more details of the course content etc see our options booklet.

Impact

We have an excellent track record of successfully delivering BTEC since 2009 and OCR national for the last 3 years. Students often go onto study BTEC National level 3 courses at college and the feedback from local colleges on their preparedness for the vocational aspects of their courses is excellent.
